Measure & Improve

GEO and AI Visibility

Last updated:

When AI answers, your name should be in it.

Generative Engine Optimization (GEO) covers everything that leads an answer engine to draw on a company’s own content as a source and to name the brand in its answer. As a GEO agency in Switzerland, PIXELS reworks your website and your content so that ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini and Perplexity find and cite them. We advise you and, if you want, take over your marketing leadership: CMO as a service. The basis is measurement with our own tool ECHO. How GEO differs from SEO is explained in our GEO glossary entry.

What this means for you

Anyone who asks an AI about a company like yours gets a few names, not a list of ten links. If your name is missing, you play no part in that enquiry, even if you rank well on Google. We make sure that your pages answer your customers’ questions, show price and date, and let the AI services’ crawlers in. The same measurement before and after shows whether the work has an effect.

Our analysis “Who AI cites” shows which other sources AI often cites in your place across Switzerland (article in German).

How we do it: 4 phases

We separate two questions: does AI find your page at all, and does it cite you once it has found it? We work on both directly on your website.

Phase 1: Research

  • Free baseline measurement with ECHO, each service reported separately
  • Your questions in your customers’ words, chosen together with you
  • Which other sources AI cites in your place today

Phase 2: Strategy

  • Do robots.txt and your firewall let the AI services’ crawlers in?
  • Is your content in the HTML the server delivers, or does JavaScript only load it later?
  • Which page answers which of your questions, and where is one missing?
  • SEO groundwork for the AI services’ own web search
  • Action plan: which pages come first and why

Phase 3: Execution

  • The answer in the first paragraph, before company history and team photo
  • A visible price in Swiss francs, as a starting price or a range where a fixed price is not possible
  • A visible date marked “Last updated” that matches the content
  • Statements with a named source, so readers and AI can check them
  • New pages for questions that go unanswered today
  • Technical fixes to crawler access, robots.txt and delivered HTML
  • Directory listings with the same address and phone number, as basic hygiene

Phase 4: Analysis

  • Re-measurement with ECHO, using the same questions on the same services
  • Evaluation over four weeks, found and cited reported separately

What does GEO cost at PIXELS?

We charge for the work on your website and your content according to scope. We give you that price after the baseline measurement, once it is clear which pages need work.

Ongoing measurement with ECHO starts at CHF 140 per month, excl. VAT, and the baseline measurement is free. Until 31 December 2026 you measure free of charge in the pilot phase, and in return we hold a short feedback call every two weeks. Details are on the ECHO pricing page.

Prices as of October 2026.

What we don’t promise

We don’t promise you a position, a mention or extra revenue. Whether an AI names your company depends on how the question is worded, when it is asked and which model answers.

We don’t sell you an llms.txt file or structured data (schema) as a way to get cited by AI, because neither has a proven effect on AI citations. Structured data remains useful for Google, and we use it there. In a controlled study (Vishwakarma et al., SIGIR ’26), breaking text into lists had no effect on which of the pages found the AI cited.

For pages the AI has already found, the same study does support three features you control yourself: a close fit with the topic of the question, visible prices and a current, visible date. Our article “When does AI cite your website?” explains what this means for your pages, with checklists (in German).

What is the difference between SEO and GEO?

SEO works on your position in a search engine’s list of results, GEO on being named and cited in an AI’s answer. The two are linked, because many AI services search the web before they answer, and where your page lands in that search is shaped by classic search engine optimization. For the exact distinction, see our GEO glossary entry.

Can an agency guarantee that ChatGPT will mention us?

No. Nobody on the outside directly controls which sources ChatGPT draws on. What an agency can commit to is careful work on what you control yourself, and an honest measurement before and after with the same questions.

How long does it take before anything shows?

We don’t promise a fixed timeframe or a target figure. A change only takes effect once the AI services have found your pages again, and they decide when that happens. We evaluate over four weeks, so that a single day of measurement does not give a false picture.

  • Action plan with priorities
  • Revised and new pages
  • Technical fixes for crawlers and HTML
  • Directory listings brought into line
  • Re-measurement with ECHO over four weeks, every figure with a margin
